چکیده
Abstract In this paper, I use a unique micro-database of 254,000 individuals distributed in 12 Spanish mining municipalities to explore the households’ decision-making processes regarding their children’s education. This database covers living Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, Huelva, Almería, and Murcia from 1877 1924. Focusing on around 42,000 children between eight 18 years old, findings show that standards were key component human capital formation. Children working-class families had considerably lower literacy levels than offspring upper- middle-class families. Moreover, analysis shows there was significantly greater gender gap among working open-pit mines other or those underground miners. difference lowered wages which translated into higher burden for daughters, hampering

Data mining for decision making in engineering optimal design
Often in modeling the engineering optimization design problems, the value of objective function(s) is not clearly defined in terms of design variables. Instead it is obtained by some numerical analysis such as FE structural analysis, fluid mechanic analysis, and thermodynamic analysis, etc. Yet, the numerical analyses are considerably time consuming to obtain the final value of objective functi...
متن کاملCognitive Abilities and Household Financial Decision Making
We analyze the impact of cognitive skills on two specific examples of consumer financial decisions where suboptimal behavior is well defined: first, the use of a credit card for a transaction after making a balance transfer on the account, and second, cases where individuals are penalized for inaccurate estimation of the value of one’s home on home equity loan or line of credit application. We ...
متن کاملData mining and decision making
Models and algorithms for effective decision-making in a data-driven environment are discussed. To enhance the quality of the extracted knowledge and decision-making, the data sets are transformed, the knowledge is extracted with multiple algorithms, the impact of the decisions on the modeled process is simulated, and the parameters optimizing process performance are recommended. The applicatio...
متن کاملCombining data mining and group decision making in retailer segmentation based on LRFMP variables
Data mining is a powerful tool for firms to extract knowledge from their customers’ transaction data. One of the useful applications of data mining is segmentation. Segmentation is an effective tool for managers to make right marketing strategies for right customer segments. In this study we have segmented retailers of a hygienic manufacture. Nowadays all manufactures do understand that for st...
